3.3 Elementary Observations Reflection

In our Intro to Education class I observed a kindergarten literacy class. It was a blast the kids were so fun to hang around. We observed for 2 hours.

We first went to Mrs Elders class and the kids were so sweet and funny. They wanted to know my name so I told them. I also helped them with the alphabet and they liked me helping them.

We went to Mrs Elder class again and the kids gave me a hug the first second I went in. They loved my puppet show. They also wanted me to help them with their work and they were so energetic and I got to eat green eggs and ham with them, it was so good.

So I was nervous when I started my puppet show, but it was fine. They listened so closely to my show and I asked them some questions and they answered them all right. One kid he drew a picture of my bee puppet and it was so cute.

So overall going to the elementary was so fun. The kids all loved me. When I left they didn’t want me to go and they were all giving me hugs and saying “why do you have to leave?”

3.2 Preschool Observations Reflection

On the 12th and 19th our Intro to Education class we were observed two 4-5 year olds preschool classes. And I was so nervous to go see them, but it turned out to not be so bad. I thought the kids were going to judge me.

In the first classroom the kids were so kind and they loved my puppet show. They came up to me and loved talking to me and they were laughing. The kids also gave me a hug, and I loved the setup in the classroom.

In the second classroom the kids also loved my puppet show and they kept saying hi to my puppets and it was funny. There was a girl in there that kept calling me nice and was making me play dough cookies. And two of the kids drew me a picture. I loved how they have carpet time and watch shows.

I think I did pretty good on my puppet show because the kids loved it. It’s was so fun to do that for them. I think I was to hard on myself before I did it. I was the only one that took my puppet stuff home and practice.

I think I will want to come back and do that again. I wish I could have stayed longer with the kids. The kids were so nice and friendly. I learned that they won’t judge you because they didn’t judge me because I have a visual impairment they were so nice even though I did.

3.2 100th Day of School

This year I am in Intro To Education and it is about learning how to be more like a teacher.

My idea is to have a party or handout candy or something. All of your teachers could hand you some candy when you go to class. And we can watch movies in our classes.

I think that would be fun to do. Or we should have a mental health day. On like on how to help people who are struggling and to congratulate them. I’m not sure I just think this would help kids get in a better mindset and for them to know that people is there for them. Or have acknowledge people with disabilities

So based on my suggestions I think we should either have a party in our classes or have a mental health day. I think all of this would help students feel more noticed and be seen whether it is your mental health or your disability. Because it would really help them in a school setting.

3.1 My One Word

Last year I started to lose hope in myself and lost my faith in God.

My word I chose is Believe. To me the word Believe means to believe in myself and not give up on work and myself. And to believe in God more and to not give up on him even when life gets hard.

I also need to keep going even if I want to follow my own path. I have learned and noticed that God has not giving up on me he is just challenging me everyday to see how strong I am. I have learned to not give up no matter what happens in my life.

So I am going to be working on believing in myself more because if I don’t believe in myself I won’t be ok. My saying is you have to be your own biggest cheerleader because not everyone will follow you and help you. So you have to make sure yourself is ok before anything else.

2.1 Mini Teach Highlight

Recently, in our Into to Education class I have been provided the opportunity to create a mini teach about Veterans Day. I taught 10th graders about music note names.

In my mini lesson I would have loved to teach longer. I would have loved to teach longer because it was a great opportunity. Also it was so fun teaching students something new. I also loved doing the research on finding my lesson about note names and relating it to Veterans Day.

I really enjoyed teaching students about note names and can’t wait to have another opportunity to teach a different curriculum. I will be teaching math and the students will be learning about subtraction and I will be teaching 8th graders.
